From their website:
Highfiberartz is an indie dyed yarn and fiber company based out of Portland, OR. I am a one woman show who sometimes employs the help of her awesome husband for events and getting packages to the post office. I have been dyeing yarn and fiber for 5 years but have been selling it for almost 3.
My background starts in Vegas where I lived most of my life until I met my wonderful husband during college in Reno, NV. After discovering we needed to move to Oregon so my hubby could attend law school at Willamette in Salem, OR I struggled for years supporting us in insurance, customer service and sales jobs that I never loved. There is only so much you can do with a Sociology BA and a sales and customer service background. Because going back to school wasn't an option, I started seeking out a career in which I could use my passions and talents. I have always been a major lover of all things color theory so with my hobbies in crochet, knitting, and spinning, I fell in love with dyeing my own yarn and fiber which eventually grew into a business. Even on the most gloomy of days, dyeing yarn and fiber always puts a smile on my face.
I am not a big company by any means. In fact, with every skein of yarn you are helping put food on my table, helping me pay my bills, and supporting my growing family. Right now it is just Hubby, me and our adorable husky Romulan. We one day want to have children with medical help, so grinding away everyday business wise is a true motivation for a brighter future.
Every skein of yarn, braid of fiber, and enamel pin is designed, made, and packaged with complete love from yours truly. I really hope you love our products as much as we love putting them out into the world. I also want to mention that Romulan is not allowed anywhere near the fiber or studio, although he loves to sing with me while listening to music during dye days!
